Jojoba Benefits for Massage & Home Use

Many of my favorite products were discovered through the recommendations of trusted friends or professional acquaintances. Others I stumbled upon by grace, luck, or through diligent research. The professional-grade product I'm featuring today ALSO happens to be perfect (and affordable!) for home use.

Jojoba Massage Oil

The Best Massage Oil

When I was searching for the perfect massage oil I had a LOT of requirements!  I needed something that was hypo-allergenic, so I could use it with clients who had sensitive skin and those who had allergies to ingredients commonly found in massage oils and lotions (nuts, seeds, and scents).

I wanted a quality product that would be safe for use on the skin, face, and hair.  I needed something that offered good "glide" on the skin, and absorbed well, so that clients didn't leave my table feeling greasy and wanting to shower.  And as someone who does a LOT of laundry, I needed something that wouldn't stain and ruin massage sheets and clothing.

Beyond all that, I wanted something that was cruelty-free (not tested on animals), and organic (we put enough chemicals in and on our bodies already).  When I found a LOCAL product that met all these specifications, I knew I'd hit the jackpot!

The Jojoba Company, from Waldoboro, Maine, offers HobaCare Jojoba products.  They are certified organic by the USDA and the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA).  They are a Leaping Bunny approved brand (cruelty-free).  AND they are an A+ Rated accredited business with the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

Jojoba Benefits

Now, a little bit about Jojoba!  It is pronounced ho-HO-ba, and the word jojoba can refer to either the desert plant, or to the extract that comes from it's seed.  While many people think jojoba is an oil, it is actually a liquid wax, and its chemical composition is very similar to the natural esters that human sebaceous glands produce for our own skin.  It is non-comedogenic, which means it won't clog pores.  In fact, it's such a great product that aestheticians give facial massages with jojoba!  Because it is so similar to the natural sebum our skin produces, it leaves the skin feeling soft, smooth and conditioned.  Not greasy, oily, or sticky like some oil-based products can.

Jojoba is safe for any hair type, and is non-toxic, so it's safe for both humans and animals!
